Meet Drew Adams, Keynote Speaker
We are excited announce our Keynote Speaker for Saturday Luncheon, Drew Adams!
Drew is an 18-year-old transgender advocate. He is an International Baccalaureate Diploma recipient and was president of his school’s Gay-Straight Alliance. When his school district barred him from the men’s room, Drew sued the district with the help of Lambda Legal; his was the first transgender student bathroom case to go to trial, and he won his case in July 2018 (the district appealed, and the case is ongoing). Drew is a past member of several national youth councils including the GLSEN National Student Council and the Trevor Project Youth Ambassador Council, and he was the Intern Coordinator for Point of Pride. He is now an organizer at March For Our Lives Jacksonville. He’s also a member of the Q Chat Space Youth Advisory Panel. Locally, he’s a volunteer at the Mayo Clinic and raises funds for LGBTQ+ outreach at JASMYN. Drew is a 2018 recipient of the Matthew Shepard Foundation Spirit of Matthew Award and the JASMYN Diamond Award.
Please welcome Drew, and attend his workshop: Trans Activism in Schools & Beyond, on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, and be sure to catch his Keynote during Saturday’s Luncheon.
